I am doing some formative pruning, and deadheading on mom's rose bushes, right now.
There are no flowers on them, at present. But, with the deadheading, and lightly done corrective pruning, they may still put out a flower or two before freezing this fall?
I will also get the Bermuda grass and weeds dug out of them (and, "Organically" fertilize them early this coming spring (same with her peonies)--even if the roses do not yield a fall blossom. They will be really beautiful this coming Memorial Day.
They really are exceptionally beautiful rose cultivars. Mom really cherished them (perhaps, not nearly
as much as she did her kitty-cats--but, she really did cherish her roses, too).
I did some posts online about her roses in the past, and folk who knew her really liked the photos, and posts.
I showed mom the posts way back then, and people's comments, and she enjoyed it.
I may see if I can still locate those?

I've tried to help him get his PhD, but he doesn't like the part where you have to give a dissertation and a board critiques it.
